Technology Advances for Pregnancies 

Premature Babies

Most pregnancies last 40 weeks. A baby born before the 37th week is known as a premature or pre-term baby. Medical advances have meant that more than 9 out of 10 premature babies survive, and most go on to develop normally.



Test Tube Babies

A test-tube baby is the product of a successful human reproduction that results from methods beyond sexual intercourse between a man and a woman and instead utilizes medical intervention that manipulates both the egg and sperm cells for successful fertilization.


Fertility Drugs

Fertility drugs can be used in the treatment of some women who have been trying to get pregnant but have been unable to do so naturally. They are the main treatment for women who have fertility issues related to polycystic ovary syndrome and men and women who have fertility issues related to hormone imbalances.

Surrogate Mothers

 It's a woman who gets artificially inseminated with the father's sperm. She then carries the baby and delivers it for you and your partner to raise.
A traditional surrogate is the baby's biological mother. That's because it was her egg that was fertilized by the father's sperm. Donor sperm can also be used.


Discussion Activity

Each of these things has already happened. Please choose two and discuss on them.


  1. Fertility drugs can be given, so that many babies are born at once.
  2. To date, the oldest woman giving birth was 66, using donor eggs.
  3. Eggs can be collected and frozen so that a mother may use them later on to have a baby.
  4. Women may become pregnant with sperm from a dead husband.
  5. Women can give birth to their own gran children.
  6. Babies are born with DNA from three parents.

Classification of Animals Animals are classified into two groups vertebrates and invertebrates Vertebrates Vertebrates are animals with backbone. The largest use for groundwater is to irrigate crops. The area where water fills the aquifer is called the saturated zone (or saturation zone). The top of this zone is called the water table. The water table may be located only a foot below the ground’s surface or it can sit hundreds of feet down.
